Kona Mendoza’s story began on the streets of Anthony, New Mexico, where she was found as a tiny puppy, bravely fending for herself. When Alex welcomed her home, little did Kona know she had found the beginning of a lifetime filled with unconditional love.

Kona was a little girl with a BIG personality and an even bigger opinion about who belonged in her circle. Michael spent months earning her approval, enduring some unforgettable protests—including special surprises in his CPAP mask and work helmet! But once he earned her trust, Kona had two devoted parents who spoiled her endlessly and answered her every beck and call.

She adored car rides, ice cream cones from Caliche’s, and eventually even welcomed her canine sibling, Charlie, into her carefully guarded kingdom. Of course, Kona always remained the boss! She wasn’t particularly fond of strangers, but those fortunate enough to earn her love knew just how special it was.

Kona was truly a little lamb who had to become a lion—a tiny, vulnerable puppy who grew into a fearless, fiercely loved queen of her castle.
